you don't need a new computer get a fuck ton of ram I'm setting in 32 gigs right now.

If i were you i'd take a closer look at AMD this year since they're pretty much on the offensive now and I do hope the new line(Vega) can battle out the current nividia line.

This is a question that's been in my head for years now, but what exactly is the difference of AMD and Nvidia? Pros and cons probably? The only thing I know is that a lot of people use nvidia more than amd, but I'm not really sure why that is.

How do you people save money for your computers? I'm still a student so the most that I can do is to do some research on computer parts and learn how to save efficiently once I graduate.

@njmanga097 to break down AMD/Nvidia:
Nvidia pros:
- Nvidia is known for sponsoring video game studios and providing them with Nvidia hardware and technologies such as Hairworks, PhysX etc, titles using these effects/hardware usually perform better on nvidia cards than AMD.
- Nvidia has slightly less CPU overhead in DX9/DX11 titles which may be of benefit if your CPU isn't on the higher end.
- Nvidia has support for Gsync, however monitors using this technology are much more expensive due to Gsync not being free, unlike AMDs "freesync" which achieves very similar results to Gsync.
- Nvidia Shadowplay
- Low power consumption

Nvidia cons:
- more expensive in most cases(but excels in the high end cards), performs worse in DX12.

AMD pros
- In most cases AMD video cards have a much better price/performance ratio, and tends shines in the mid-range and the low end categories.
- AMD Freesync

Cons:
- CPU overhead in dx9/dx11
- Higher power consumption

Generally speaking when discussing pros and cons of either team, It's usually fairly nitpicky stuff. and i personally think the most important thing comes down to what resolution you're wanting to play at, your budget, and the types of games you're wanting to play. I'm sure i'm missing quite a lot as points made above is from what I remember when I was in your situation.

As for how do I afford it as a student, eating sleep for dinner is always a good start . Jokes aside, I recommend poking around for a part time job at a cafe or something.

Well how I do it, is save a small amount of money here and there. I'd say, if you can afford it, put back like $10-$20 dollars every week. Put pocket change in a jar or something. It can add up surprisingly quick. Otherwise just put back whatever you can afford and play the waiting game.
