Quick question, how compatible are meshes from Fallout 3 with New Vegas and vice versa? Do the two games use the same skeleton? Are there any special fixes to apply to meshes when converting between the two games? I haven't been able to find a straight answer anywhere else so I figured I'd ask here.

I'm no modder but I do know that they should be compatible. Setting up iron sights for guns is another story but meshes in general should be fine, especially for armour as the games share many of the same models. Also, some of Fallout 3's contents exist in New Vegas' game files.

Are you looking to convert vanilla items or items from a mod?

Most likely a mod but I suppose it is situation dependent. I don't have any specific plans now but I like to have the option available to me. Thanks for the response, btw.

Been at least a year and a half but IIRC they are compatible, even skeletons are the same (New vegas as a game was actually made in the GECK)

Ironsights for weapons use a special Node that you won't find in Fallout 3 meshes, but I believe you can copy it over from a New vegas model and adjust in NIFskope accordingly.

Alright, that's great. I mostly just ant to ensure that whatever work I do for New Vegas I can port back to 3 (armor mesh wise at least). Thanks for the info.
