| No really, I just reached the Dunwich Building today for the first time. I kept reading threads online about this place, but I didn't bother watching videos talking about it because I was afraid it would ruin the experience. I got to the place, played all the holotapes, killed a bunch of ghouls, and that's pretty much it. I don't understand why so many folks are afraid of it. Ghouls are pretty easy to kill with the Double-Barrel Shotgun from Point Lookout. I know in Fallout 4, there's this place called Dunwich Borers. The fog, darkness, and weird hallucinations were the scariest things I've ever seen in the Fallout games.
How about you guys? Did you get scared of this place or nah? |

| I think it's the quest associated with it that's kind of creepy, along with the hallucinations and backstory. _________________ Cursed be the ground, for our sake. | It's pretty amateurish tbh. I get why it left an impression on people, but really it's not even that competent or interesting location. |

| The doors opening and closing by themselves, the darkness, the room with all the heads and blood, the hallucination with the glowing one that appears out of nowhere. It's a pretty creepy place, especially when you don't expect it. The quest you get from Point Lookout to go back to the Dunwich Building is also pretty eerie.
You were expecting it to be scary. You went in with that mindset, whereas the people who played this game years ago including myself, were pretty freaked out because it was so unexpected. There are so many buildings in Fallout 3 that so similar, and walking into somewhere like Vault 106 or the Dunwich Building expecting more of the same makes it much more frightening. You had said you walked in with prior knowledge it would be scary, that's what ruins it.
And also, you were freaked out by Dunwich Borers? When that has pretty much exactly the same elements that made the Dunwich Building scary? |

| It's not the scariest thing in the world, but I appreciated the atmosphere. _________________ |

| Its about the story and lore behind it more than the actual experience. Alot of what makes fallout great is the hidden stories behind every location. Things in fallout are rarely what they first seem. _________________ " " "They grow up loyal to the Republic, or they don't grow up at all." ―Alpha-17 |
