| Hello guys!
I'm having a problem with the normal maps(which i recon to be the "shiny" or "glossy" layer on the textures) in New Vegas, they just don't load, wether is a weapon, a custom race, clutter or whatever, it doesn't work and i don't know why, it may be caused by having a lot of retextures? i have not added any mods that alter that kind of things.
please help. _________________ - Kek:

| @ElMaldito hello buddy, hope you're doing well. How do you know your NM don't load ? Tell me more... Just and idea in case, you may do the appriopriate saves and use Steam to check your game cache in order to be sure your vanilla bsa files are healthy |

| Hi mate @darkstyler I just started a new playthrough the other day and at first i didn't notice that the nm were not loading, but then i notice that the weapons and some of the enviroment was darker than usuall so i thought it was a brightness problem, i was wrong, i realise that it was a nm problem when i got new weapons from enemies, weapons that in other playthtoughs were "shiny" and not that dark. Oh and this happened with vanilla and mod weapons. _________________ - Kek:

| maybe your archive invalidation reset with FOMM (or whichever program you use)? mine has once or twice and it messes with the textures. other than that did you 4gig NV? |

| @ElMaldito Strange that it could concern only NM, so it's not bsa related. - Quote :

• If you have an ENB disable it to see. • Disable the lasts mods you've installed, until you've found an eventual culprit. |

| Well i don't use an ENB, and i never had a "archive invalidation" problem with FOMM before, @Dextrose yeah i'm using the 4GB patch. I'll try to delete some retextures and see what happens. _________________ - Kek:

| hmm..i really can't think of anything else, normal maps not showing is a bit odd regardless of the amount/size of textures. maybe resizing some textures or using the "lower res" ones might help? it might be an issue with RAM, but i'm no pro so i'm kind of grasping at straws here |

| @ElMaldito don't delete them, just rename the texture folder to invalidate the loose files temporarilly. |

| Move aside guys, amateur coming through.
Yell-o, so basically I'm going to try to evaluate just some basic bits n' things relating to your game issue, which I believe of what I read is no specular maps working in your game after a little while in a playthrough.
I mean I've only seen problems where ENBs make specular maps *too* shiny, never un-shiny. In terms of weapons a retexture *could* edit the way textures affect a model (like guns.) I would take the advice from your peers above in this comment and try to disable your mods. Also make sure your game settings weren't changed from beforehand, .ini settings, launcher settings, stuff like that.
Another thing to note is that if your environment is darker, and you didn't fiddle around with the settings, weather mods can make environments darker, like Nevada Skies (or something conflicting with a weather mod.) Also on another note it's not the normal map that makes the shine, it's usually the specular map. My throwing guess is that it's the gloss/specular maps can be either: A.) Overlayed/masked by a re-texture mod that undoubtedly edits that since it, well, does that purposefully. B.) Just specular effect not somehow even being enabled or shown via your game. C.) Mod that's conflicting with your environment making it not glow.
Now if it's either of those things yet again I'm just an amateur, *not my profession get a refund somewhere else mate.* Jokes aside, hopefully it's one of your mods causing the issue and I'm just ranting about. If you need further help on top of this, (actually on the bottom of this comment) I'll be available pretty much as long as I'm here. This also compliments with darkstyler being the first one to help anyone with anything. Hope you solve your problem, take care! |

| @PrinceMinus Thanks for the suggestions and ideas, yeah it might be a mod that is messing with my game though i can't think of any of the mods that i'm using that would do that. I have to check all of them on FNVedit. Side note: i just mentioned the "darker enviroment" cause i felt it was just a little bit darker, not a big deal. A friend suggested me to check the "bDoSpecularPass" in my fallout default ini. and yeah it was "bDoSpecularPass=0" i turned into "bDoSpecularPass=1" and nothing happened in-game, i even started a new game but nothing changed. _________________ - Kek:
