Like the tittle says I'm curious to know what other post apocalyptic games people play here and what they're like. I think the closest to post apocalyptic game other than fallout I play is Pillars of Eternity and the only reason i mention that is because its A) made by obsidian and B) done the same style (somewhat) of Fallout 1 and 2.

Try out wasteland. Pretty fun game. Very similar to fallout 1, 2, tactics, ect.

I've played wasteland 2 and while it was fun I felt like I had less freedom with the different character classes than I would've had in other games.

I've played Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light quite a bit and i love them. These games are just so immersive and you get really drawn into them. They got the shooting and stealth mechanics on point and if you are looking for a challenge there is ranger and ranger hardcore mode where you have to be on edge all the time because every mutant can kill you pretty fast. In addition the game design and graphics are beautiful and everything just looks so real. So if you haven't played them give it a try.

I used to play miscreated which is a really fun game if you enjoy games similar to day-z

S.T.A.L.K.E.R, SoC, Cs, CoP, Metro 2033, Metro last light. They are amazing games, try them out.

State of Decay. Awesome game where you basically have to scavange for supplies in an open world and manage a community of survivors during a zombie apocalypse. Gameplay is very good, but the main story is pretty meh (if it has a main story )

Dying Light. Another post apocalyptic zombie game. Crappy main story but awesome enviroment.

Bulettstorm. It's a pretty intense shooter game. Kill more guys and a shit ton of new ones shows up right away, you can kill them in very GOTY ways, like shooting a flare in their mouth. Beautiful art, wich gives it the futuristic touch and sometimes takes the post apocalyptic feeling away, but this game is goty!

I've been trying the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games recently. Not sure if they're my cup of tea, but I'm making an honest attempt at a playthrough. Metro is good. Left 4 Dead 2 is a classic in my eyes, always play it. And Gears of War.

Not set in a traditional post apocalyptic setting but the Darksouls series is great. Bloodborne nails the feeling of the dawn of the apocalypse, great visuals and setting.

Recently I was playing Dying Light again, I played it before on the Xbox. Now playing it on PC, it is absolutely brilliant, the controls are good and easy to use, the mechanics work very well and the free-running is just so cool.

I might go on a limp here and say Dying Light is the best zombie ever, well maybe not because TellTale's The Walking Dead is emotionally gripping so maybe not.

Well, I have a new addition: Postal 2, particularly the Paradise Lost expansion, which is absolutely post-apocalyptic. It's the main reason I've spent so little time on here recently. It's also the first and, I think, the only game on Steam I've got 100% of the achievements for. Paradise Lost is just great, referencing Fallout, Borderlands, STALKER, all while making its own distinct, enjoyable world with different weather zones giving different areas their own visual style. Of course, it is a somewhat niche game, with a unique sense of humour, but even I, who isn't a fan of a bunch of humour thrown everywhere, didn't mind it at all. To some extent, I like the humour, though not every joke is a winner (but I can't think of any jokes that I just 'hate' either, just sort of feel ambivalent towards). It really does become an even more rewarding if you're familiar with base Postal 2, and I have no trouble recommending the base game first. It's just a wickedly fun game with a fair number of mods on the Steam Workshop.

Out of 25,809 reviews of the time of writing (1,841 recent), 95% are positive (97% recent), and that's for damn good reason. Buy it.

Metro is one great post-apocaliptic game:) I'd say one of the best on the market:) I replay it several times:D

Rage is a good one I really enjoyed I liked the various interesting weapons in that game.

Of course, other than the Fallout series which I have every title released (even Brotherhood) of I guess the Killing Floor series counts. It's basically a online/solo first person game with classes and a progression system for those classes where you fight against a bunch of mutants and get new weapons but since it's also a sci fi game you get crazy guns and weapons like a Sledgehammmer that releases a shotgun blast on enemies when you hit them or a gun that shoots microwaves.

The most post-apoc game I have ever played other than Fallout would be Metro:2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. In Fallout, you still have these really colorful moments when you're out in the wasteland, but in Metro its just straight fear and sadness throughout the game. That feeling shows up even more when you go around the dead city of Moscow. Its a great post-apoc game. To me, its even better than Fallout.

Good ol’ Metro series. Love the setting and the stories behind it, but the linear gameplay makes for rather limited replayability.... although I’ve completed them multiples times heheh. Especially liked last light for the knockout option, but disliked the ammo cap they implemented and the 3 weapon cap, although I suppose it makes for a more realistic experience
