I never got behind gimp myself. I always found good old-fashioned pencil and paper can do wonders.

Looks good, the only helpful criticism I can lend is you need to add more shadow around the person's feet and where he is leaning against the truck. Currently it looks like he is 'floating' a bit from the car. Looking at the bottom of the car, the shadows are quite dark which you can use as a baseline.
Hope this helps, but great job for your first time. |
