I know probably everyone might say jar jar binks but the character i hate most in star wars is rey from the new star wars movie. It is funny because i love the actress and character but what i hate is the idea and concept behind the character. The idea being someone who had no knowledge she was force sensitive or even how to use the force suddenly can use it effortlessly and even contend with someone who is powerful in the force kylo ren. Literally after hearing what the force is she can automatically use it very well. Also hate the idea that her character can beat kylo in a lightsaber fight when it is her first time using or even holding one. The idea behind her character is to have a powerful female character which i am all for but do it correctly.

It would probably have to be Anakin "I hate Sand" Skywalker. A large portion of the movies are simply revolving around some sort of teenage angst that the character has. And not to mention the compulsive behavior that results in the destruction of the Jedi. Hell, the whole story is basically caused by him destroying a galactic government in order to save his wife, who could have been saved by other means.

The rancor in Jabba's den, because he is very stupid and think only with his stomach or may be because in this race of animals, the stomach is their brain ?

I hate Obi Wan. I mean, he doesn't respect entrepreneurship. That nice alien person wanted to sell him some death sticks, and Obi Wan tells him to "rethink his life"? What if he had a family? What if that was his only avenue of income? Who is Obi Wan to tell him how to live his life?

Honestly Prequel Anakin. He's depicted a psychopath(well to me) since he slaughters Tusken Raiders and the Younglings. I prefer TCW Anakin since we get his actual good side which the movies failed to depict and he's less chaotic and friendlier.

The canon Grievous. General Grievous was portrayed as this unstoppable killing machine in the comics and EU. But when it comes to the Clone Wars hes more or less portrayed as fool that gets lucky. I know he's not on his A-game in episode three because in the Clone Wars (2008) Mace Windu force crushed his chest cavity which is why he has the cough. (Yes I know its not considered fully canon but The whole last season of the series was a direct lead up to episode 3)

Reason: Pathetic Left-wing politics is bursting out of all the characters noise holes and other orifices.

So lets see here.... we have token black guy replacing Han Solo (who had all but checked out by this point anyway), but literally brings nothing except for unintended mouth-breathing memes.

Sure maybe star wars was never great (except for around the time the original trilogy was released), but now, it qualifies as shit. To think, that Jar Jar was previously the worst thing to happen to Star Wars. Well, that's beat by the Disney Star Wars Universe and everything in it, Including that hack J.J. Abrams ripping off a New Hope.

It's Jar Jar, of course. Single-handedly turned those movies from bland to unwatchable for me. He was a genuine cartoon character running through a universe that, even when it was humorous, was not actually looney-tunes silly.
Baby Anakin wasn't really all that interesting as an actor to me. There are indeed a few child actors who carry a presence and can put some intensity into a performance, and that role demanded that kind of kid actor.

Basically I sigh every time someone uses "SJW" as a pejorative, especially on a site where people are generally civil. I'm a social justice warrior, or, at least, a social justice cheerleader, left politically, and damned proud of it.

Yeah, I agree with the second part particular. I'm more of moderate, leaning left, but honestly, both sides annoy me when they try to discredit anything because (insert political opinion). What happened to just not liking something, and admitting you don't like it? Everyone wants to act like their fighting for some noble cause nowadays because they don't like a movie. It's a film, some are good some are bad. Personally I thought that force awakens was a pretty boring New Hope inspired trope fest that was setting up to an equally boring sequel, but Last Jedi turned out to be really good. It had a real KOTOR 2 vibe to it, which is unsurprising, since Rian Johnson claimed to have played the games.

Honestly, it's all silly, films are subjective. They're designed to make money, of course they pander to public opinion. If right wing views were popular opinion, then they'd be pandering to them too, because there's money in it. Wanna talk about killing your childhood, how about you recognise that billion dollar corporations made all the things you enjoyed in your childhood, and they weren't special and magical experiences. They were products. End of.


That said, my most hated Star Wars character is Darth Maul in the Phantom Menace, because he's such a boring villain. The EU and new continuity have done a lot to improve on him, but honestly, in the first film the way they used and wrote him was awful. He just looks vaguely intimidating then dies. Such a waste of a great villain.

Rey...because without her there would have been a character who would have had to face the fact that he was the very thing he (probably) was led to believe was evil for most of his life. Finn had the potential to be an awesome character who was a stormtrooper and upon realising hes a Jedi has to face off against former freinds and allies and question his entire existence. 
However, she had a chance at making me think maybe she could be interesting IF SHE TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE AND KYLO WENT BACK TO THE LIGHT SIDE OF THE FORCE! Because at least then you could say that made sense, her being on her own for most of her life and no doubt anger towards the rest of the world. Also, unlike Luke who had a loving family in a safe environment growing up, Rey grow up alone and no doubt angry with her situation. I cannot be the only one that has a problem with her Mary Sue Bullshit, but what I find the most annoying is the same people that screamed racist when Finn was revealed in the trailer are probably the same people who praise Rey's name for being an inspiring new addition to the Star Wars Universe.

If Finn and Rey had been both white men, it would not have made their characters' writing any better. The fact that they're black and a woman shouldn't be bothering anyone (but it does _really_ bother some people apparently), because it's not nearly the big problem with the movie. People interested in "social justice" did not get together and say "Let's write a woman and a black guy, badly." They're just as annoyed by bad writing as anyone else, but the "SJW-as-a-pejorative-people" have decided to turn their political opponents into ridiculous caricatures. It's not (usually) valid. I don't like bad writing either. But I'm ok with lots of diversity among the star wars rebels, and a female main character is not strictly wrong.

That being said, the fact that the rebels in the star wars universe share some ideals with liberals is not surprising. The empire was not a diverse bunch, being as far as I could see, all human, while the rebel fleets were much more highly diverse right back to the older movies. As is often the case in science fiction, alien species are used as stand-ins for modern issues like racism.

@"Sirdanest" personaly what annoys me the most is not the fact that there is a black guy (actually when it comes to Finn i have no problem with him at all: like way he was written and also performance was pretty good) and a woman as a main characters of the movie but the SJ agenda behind it so the reason 'why' they are there. And its not only about Rey and Finn because if you look closer you will find much, much more of this PC stuff in new SW movies.
So writing in general is a secondary thing here.

Kathleen Kennedy  didnt even make a secret about what her vision of 'new'  Star Wars was. And thanks to that SW became yet another  example when modern liberals are using well-know and loved pop-cultural brand for their own leftist purpose.

This kind of shit is not acceptable in s/f fair-tale the Star Wars is. People expect this franchise to be 'politically free' and be only entertaining which can't be easy if movie is constantly 'bombarding' you with values you dont necessarily support.

Obviously i cant imagine SW without diversity  but what kind of diversity is that when - like in Last Jedi - 3/4 crew members on Rebel starship in the background are woman? Diversity in Star Wars ,means  for me a lot of fuckin' aliens. This is what i want!
Lando turns out to be pan-sexual (wtf was that?! why? what for?!?!). We have a robot standing up for robot rights, ready for revolution (i am pretty sure the most important file in its database is the one containing works of Marx and Lenin)... So whats next? Transgender Boba Fett? Homo Obi One? I wouldnt be surprised.

Making empire another space 3rd reich is also out of place: it should rather represent the army ruled by the Tyrant who is addicted to power then some kind of racist organization tolerating humans only. Palpatine never shown any kind of hatred toward other species and its rather only New Order now made to look like bunch of white supremacists so the audience couldnt forget who the bad guys should be associate to.

So as i said on the beginning: its all about what really stands behind it and not just some black guy and a woman. Lando was great Leia was great but their presence were natural there. Not because it was according to political line the Hollywood goes this days.

Well, this is just my opinion. Maybe i am wrong and just obsessed with this PC crap. But it really makes me puke and i would like to treat it with 'sword and fire' if i could

For me, it's a tie between Rey and that Asian girl who's name I can't even bother to remember. Rey is probably the most Mary Sue character I've ever seen that didn't originate from a child's imagination. The Asian girl was just cringey and resulted in a notable chunk of the movie being sidetracked to what can almost be described as PETA propaganda.

As @Carnall1 said, they definitely shoved in SJ agendas into these new movies. None of these characters can do any wrong. Rey never struggles and just magically masters everything she does. People defend her by saying that Luke and Anakin were Mary Sues as well, but that's just factually incorrect. Remember the first time we see either of them fight? They both lost an arm. They both had to train for years to get to the level of skill they had while Rey just picks up a lightsaber and masters the Force after never even hearing of it. She also mastered force techniques that need years of practice to even attempt within less than 30 seconds of trying. The only "training" she got was in TLJ in which Luke flat out refused to train her. He only relented and had her sit on a rock for about 10 seconds. After that, she flew away to go save everyone. People try to equate that to Luke in Empire Strikes Back, but that's also just a terrible comparison. Rey had, at most, a few days of training swinging at rocks and sitting on a rock for 10 seconds and was at the same level as Kylo. Luke trained for a few months on Dagobah under the teaching of one of the greatest Jedi in history and still got his ass handed to him by Vader. What people might not realize is that during the fight with Vader on Bespin, Vader wasn't trying to kill him right off the bat. At first glance, they appear to be on even ground. After taking a closer look, you can see Vader is purely on the defensive until he fails to freeze Luke in carbonite. As soon as that fails, he goes on the offensive and Luke starts to really struggle.

Luke needed months of training. Rey picked up a lightsaber and went toe to toe with Kylo in her first movie. Yes yes, I know he was wounded, but the simple fact that they made it canon that Darth Maul could survive being cut in half and thrown down a damn-near endless pit means that Kylo, who is far stronger than Maul, should easily be able to shrug that off. We even see that in the next movie, he fights at pretty much the same skill level at which he was at before in TFA. He had years of force and saber training under Luke and then more under Snoke. Rey just picks up the saber and magically knows how to use it properly and somehow masters all these force abilities that we had two whole trilogies and a cartoon series showing us that they weren't beginner abilities.

This isn't even bias. I can overlook a lot of things, but these just straight up contradict everything we've been told for decades. Criticizing it gets you labeled as racist/sexist/mysoginistic/etc. I had no problem with the lead being a girl, but they just wrote her so terribly. They tried to build her up in TFA with some questions which answers might explain why she's so Mary Sue, but then TLJ comes out and pretty much throws everything that TFA alluded to out.

Kylo was actually very promising. It felt like they put some actual effort into his character. Him being obsessed with Vader was a nice touch and we saw how in influenced his fighting, appearance, and personality.....then they go and throw that out in TLJ and makes him hardly resemble anything he was originally designed to be. Kylo and Finn are pretty much the only characters who are written decently. Rey is by far the worst one, but the Asian one is a close second. The only reason she isn't at Rey's level is because Rey had two movies to show how bad she was. This girl only had one(but boy was it a doosy). I honestly feel bad for the actress who plays her. She won't ever be able to live that role down. Just like how I feel bad for the guy who played Jar Jar. I don't feel bad for Daisy though because she doubled down and defended Mary-Rey Sue being flawless.

Jar Jar Binks. Not only is he a step and fetch character whose writing makes some minstrel shows seem progressive, but he is also one of the greatest examples of wasted potential ever put on screen. He could have been something more, an outsider whose clumsiness separates him from his warrior culture species, and whose species separates him from the humans on Naboo, but no. George Lucas thought that what kids needed most was a CGI Step and fetch it monstrosity with no depth and no redeeming qualities.

Jar Jar Binks is the best reminder that the only reason the original Star Wars (the only one of the original trilogy that Lucas wrote and directed) wasn't awful was because he had actors and a studio telling him no to his worst ideas. That and it was a remake of one of Akira Kurosawas best films (The Hidden Fortress)

@s0mbo1 Jar Jar was originally going to be a mercenary. George wanted him to be one, but they told him to make him kid friendly and so he became what we know today. I don't really blame George for Jar Jar as it wasn't what he wanted to do with him. That being said, George isn't innocent when it comes to ruining characters.

Kylo Ren because he doesn't really have character imo and feels like a he was just there to be Han Solo's son.

Prequel Anakin in episode 2-3 is a kid having a temper tantrum who destroyed the Jedi Order and got killed in the most pathetic manner. It kinda ruins my image of him from episode 4.

Do I really have to say why Jar Jar binks is hated?
