So, about Mr.House, I guess you can see it that way. Even though he would have certainly been saved from the bombs no matter what, because of his wealthiness and connections, he still took the times and tried to save the city as much as he could. And, that's an honorable action.
That said, the way I see it, is that he's hungry for power, and he needs to control everything, and he knows surviving the bombs would be pointless for him if there's nothing to control and rule once the old world is gone. Also, pretty much all of his empire is set around the Mojave, and it is his life's works. And he's way too proud to just let that be destroyed. So, even though he is saving the city of Vegas, he is not really doing it for the people, or the future generation and the future of mankind; he is doing it for him. Anyway, that is the way I see it, like I said I just don't trust him

I'm a fan of the independent ending, myself. The first ending I got was NCR, then Legion, then House. Each of those left me with a vague sense of dissatisfaction. I feel that the independent ending was the best for Vegas. It freed them from the grasp of the invasive NCR, from the clutches of the 'evil' Caesar, from the greedy aspirations of Mr. House, which, to me, screams "dystopian future."
Most of all, though, I just enjoy killing everyone except for the BoS. I like the Brotherhood. To me, they're the only faction with any remaining semblance of humanity. The NCR has good intentions, sure, but what they do to achieve those goals is... questionable, at best. (See: Bitter Springs)
Mr. House's dream is noble indeed, but just leaves me with a bad feeling.

Anyway, you make a good argument. A couple of things that bother me about house is

And like I said, New Vegas being ruled by one person is certainly not great.
However, Vegas is blooming under his rule. and Weather he's hungry for power or doing it out of the goodness of his heart people will still benefit and that's why I think he's okay.

I choose the NCR because they're the best option the people got. Legion likes to pretty much terrorize people. While Mr. House no one wants a dictator. Independent ending? No one wants a tyrant.

I've played New Vegas for so many hours, but I've only actually finished it once. And it was a strange conclusion, because I had sided with the NCR throughout my entire game. Done every quest they had, travelled to all their outposts to help, and never once did they offer me a chance to join them.

I mean in comes a guy who does more for their cause in a couple of months than hundreds of their soldiers have managed for years and they decide not to hire him as anything but freelance security for the president. I should have been a god damn general at that point.

So when it came time to choose, I went my own way. I threw out the NCR and the Legion, I disposed of house and I had upgraded the securitrons. In the end, New Vegas got to be its own independent city, and my courier went his own way. It was a pretty satisfying ending. Though I strongly suspect the more canon ending would be the NCR eventually taking over New Vegas.

I've also felt like doing a Legion playthrough, but there's just something about the low-tech mentality and silly costumes that makes them a bit dull. And it doesn't help that you don't choose your sides until way, way into the game's main story. By that time I usually have followers I'm happy with who would be upset if I joined the Legion, so it's something you have to plan for in advance.

Maybe I'll try it someday, especially since dragbody's overhaul have made them a lot more interesting visually.

To be completely honest, as some others like @Waffenbaum said, I have only beaten the game once even though I have played through different parts hundreds of times. That being said, the one time I did finish, I went with Mr. House. And looking back, I really cannot put a finger on any reason I had to. He just had this charisma to me, like he was the smartest man in the room and he knew it and didn't care. I liked his sass and I began to grow fond of him I think. Ideology wise I would probably pick Independent but again I just think there was something special for me meeting House that first time that had me hooked.

I really enjoyed the independent vegas with yes man ending. Kicking the legion's ass and showing the NCR whos the boss was really satisfying after hearing all the political bullshit and spiritual beliefs of both sides. Just like the courier was like "I DONT FUCKING CARE. LEAVE MY VEGAS"

When i do a play through of New Vegas, i generally side with the NCR because they're the closest thing to an actual governing body and would be good for the Mojave at the end of the day.

However, i do think that House could be a great option because unlike any of the other options, he has the influence and money to create a functioning and well-off society. The issue with this is that he is a business man, and at the end of the day he is only out for himself. At some point or another he will actually die as well. His life support system only elongates his life, it does not make him immortal.

In this vote, i picked the independent New Vegas because if you decide to pool the families together, get rid of the skeletons in their closet (literally and figuratively), and make them into a sort of board of directors, no one person could go around making the decisions for everyone. There are ways in which independent New Vegas could be bad or good, depending on how you carry your courier through the game. If you choose some of the options that help everyone, such as diverting power from Helios One to the entire region instead of giving yourself an epic orbit laser, then you help the entire region of New Vegas in the long run.

That's just my two cents on the matter. It's always something that's up for debate and what keeps me interested in discussing New Vegas with everyone here and my friends in real life

Definitely Independent New Vegas, then it does not belong to any faction but ourselves and we can choose the fate of New Vegas. NCR, Legion and House only fight for themself... oops, so do I!

Looking at role playing aspect, I'm only playing and getting everything for myself .

I have played at least once for each faction except House, I might try it one day, but I don't really like him though. My other favourite is the Legion, because I find it fun to play a bad guy once in a while. And Legion has few the most favourite characters of mine in the game, Lanius and Vulpes. NCR does not really have any character I like.

@"FafnirEtherion" Yeah no joke, it seems most people just get pissed at a faction or all of them and end up going for independent vegas, which is understandable. Every time I've ever stepped foot in the legion camp it always ended the same way, as soon as that guy asked me to give him my weapons it ended with the most brutal slaughter I could perpetrate.

Seems most people looked at NCR's massacre at Bitter Springs and House's ego and just said screw them I'll go my own way. The NCR does seem to have a lot of problems but honestly BitterGate does not bother me. These guys aren't actually natives, they're even from the same vault as the NCR! They don't have hundreds or thousands of years of culture tied to the land, they just decided raiding and butchering their fellow man sounded better than trying to make a settlement like Shady Sands. So honestly good riddance let the NCR give the people of the Mojave safety and normalcy in their lives.

House ultimately offers the same thing, bringing about some semblance of the old world and even if he's running something between an Autocracy/Oligarchy he's not some brutal dictator. He doesn't keep slaves like Caesar and he doesn't want the world to revert to the Iron Age. He has the dream, and more than anyone else including the Courier, the knowledge to push Vegas and the Mojave to a better tommorow; I mean cmon people we're talking about Mr. New Vegas all night every night on Radio New Vegas! If the courier becomes the new master of the Mojave what has he done except kick out the guy who actually had a game plan? I don't see the Courier setting up a dynasty or even a next in line, and leaving Vegas in the hands of the tribes doesn't sound like safe footing.

@Heracles You made some good points. Though, I think most people tend to dislike the main factions and go for the independent new vegas ending because it feels more rewarding somehow. What I mean is that if you do one of the main faction quests and endings, in the end your character just doesn't seem to get anything out of it. For exemple, the NCR main quest and ending seems so un-rewarding. You pretty much win the war for the NCR all by yourself, but yet are never acknowledge as part of the NCR; @Waffenbaum summed it up perfectly : "comes a guy who does more for their cause in a couple of months than hundreds of their soldiers have managed for years and they decide not to hire him as anything but freelance security for the president. I should have been a god damn general at that point." As, for the Legion it's more or less the same. Finally, the House ending makes it seems like you're just a tool for House, and that he's the one who thought, planned and did everything, but where would he be if the courier didn't brought him his platinum chip? It feels like the Courier's actions were not that big of a deal, at least that is the way I see it. So, I think that the Independent ending gives the player a bit more recognition for his actions than the other endings, but that's just my opinion though.

Also, to continue with my point of view on the game ending and why I don't like the NCR anymore; I personally consider the someguy2000's serie as cannon in the lore, and once I played New Vegas Bounties III, I sweared I would never ever do the NCR ending again. Those of you who played the mod will know why. I still help them to get rid of the Legion, but that ends here, once the Legion is gone, I turn my back on the NCR because they are not worth it.

NCR. Simply put they are one of the last bastions of civilised humans in the West and I certainly dont want no Roman crucifying people he doesnt like or being a totalitarian leader of a casino city and its surrounding area although it does sound tempting.

@"praising" Yea you're right most people aren't looking at it the way I framed it, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. NCR ending especially left me feeling unrewarded and unacknowledged even if I think they or House are what's best for the Mojave. For me it's still worth sticking with them for the clear conscience but I get where you and the others are coming from.
